We are a full service General Contractor, Washington State licensed, bonded and insured. Currently, we are the only CAPS (National Home Builders’ designation for “Certified Aging in Place Specialist”) contractor on the Peninsula serving our clients from the Hood Canal to Forks. We are also proud to have been approved as a VA Contractor serving our veterans special construction needs.
Celebrating 40 years in construction, by Design Group, Inc. has earned the distinction as one of the Olympic Peninsula’s premier home improvement and remodeling contractors. Since 2002, owner and President, Jac Osborn, founded the company with an emphasis on quality workmanship, premier service and total client satisfaction.
In 2007, by Design Group, Inc. expanded into our 1450 square foot Showroom located in Sequim, WA just off Carlsborg Road. It houses a nice selection of cabinetry, laminate and hard surface countertops, flooring options, and walk-in tub and roll-in shower displays.
Jac and his team are especially pleased of the company’s unblemished track record, which is a direct result of our attention to EVERY detail.
“We push to get your project completed at the level where the highest expertise meets the lowest economic cost. We present the options, you make the choices.” ~Jac Osborn
We have a lengthy list of clients who have given us their stamp of approval, many of whom we still service. Most have enthusiastically given their testimonials on our radio ads…not just in their words, but in their own voices.
Our clients say that our construction documentation and communication practices are key components to our success. Our billing statements, easy-to-understand contracts, detailed cost breakdowns and daily on-site status meetings keeps our clients timely informed about the project’s progress and budget status.
Jac Osborn, Owner/CEO and Director of Sales and Operations/CAPS
In 1979, Jac became a licensed general contractor in San Diego and worked for his father’s construction company originally established in 1940. After selling the company to his employees, Jac and his wife Boni relocated to Sequim seeking a quieter lifestyle. Events led him back to construction and he founded BDG in 2002. He assembled a team of professionals to provide excellent customer service and quality performance.
Jac personally manages all phases of each project. He boasts that our clients can reach him any time, day or night by phone or email. In keeping with his own philosophy of client service, Jac has implemented the computer Detailed Cost Breakdown: an application that compares and tracts actual expenses against projected costs providing our clients with a reliable budget tool to make informed decisions about what they want while staying within their budget.
A few years ago, Jac recognized that our aging population was in need of a contractor who would be sensitive and knowledgeable about their changing lifestyle. His research led him to the “Aging in Place” construction concept. He enthusiastically retooled a division of the company focused on the needs of this rapidly expanding market. Jac expanded his education by achieving the National Association of Home Builds designation, CAPS (“Certified Aging in Place Specialist”).
Boni Osborn, Owner/President and Creative Director/CAPS
Boni began her design career in San Diego in 1998 when she turned her love of silk floral design into a successful home based business. Showcase Design. Her client base included model homes, furniture stores and boutique hotels. With the encouragement of her clients, Boni expanded her company into the field of interior design. She and Jac brought Showcase Design into the by Design Group, Inc. family and capitalized on the client benefit of a staff design consultant.
Clients are often overwhelmed with the endless choices to move their dream into reality. Boni is instrumental in providing as much or as little assistance as needed. Her job is to minimize the drama and maximize the excitement of creating a beautiful and functional living space.
Boni’s approach to interior design is that it doesn’t have to be an intimidating, stuffy process that blows your budget and turns your project into a nightmare. The goal is to incorporate your style into the new project space as if it has always been there and highlight the new features by blending them into adjacent spaces.
Kevin Woods, Working Project Manager
As a “working” Project Manager, Kevin has the responsibility for on-site supervision as well the company’s principal construction craftsman. He has a long history in residential construction, furniture making, and facilities management. He is truly a “jack of all trades” with over 30 years of construction experience. He joined BDG in 2007 and quickly established himself as an extremely valued member of our team.
He is responsible for onsite interfacing with the client, subcontractors and construction tradesmen. His desire to seek creative solutions to unforeseen challenges and his easygoing, fair and diplomatic demeanor keeps our projects on track and running smoothly. His is always a client “favorite”.
